A sampler of Easter Prayers That Will Renew Your Family’s Faith
Easter — a season of hope and renewal. Whether you’re a “Christmas and Easter” church attender or a faithful member of the worship team, the incredible gift of Jesus’ resurrection is for all. In fact, Jesus was all about searching for the outcast so if this is you, people are sending heartfelt pre-Easter prayers that you will come in from the cold.
As grandparents and parents, we have the joy of sharing the Easter message with our families and lifting them up in prayers. Whether you’re gathering for an Easter meal or simply reflecting on the meaning of the day, prayer is a beautiful way to invite God’s presence into your home. This sampler of Easter prayers is here to help you bless your loved ones, strengthen their faith, and fill your Easter celebrations with joy and gratitude.
Easter Morning.
This list of Easter prayers starts off with a first thing in the morning prayer. If you are going to a sunrise service, you have my permission to eat some jellybeans on the way there for a little energy.
Lord Jesus, it’s Easter Sunday. I celebrate your great victory over sin and death. Thank you for sacrificing your life for me. Thank you that your gift of life is available to my whole family, some who live in heaven with you now and some still to be born. After the grief of Good Friday, I am filled with joy because you live. You are with me now and always. I pray that everyone celebrating today will take time to stop and honor you – remembering that Easter is about you. Amen.
Family-Faith Renewal.
Lord Jesus, I stand in awe of God’s miraculous plan of redemption for each one of us. Just as your body was renewed on Easter, I pray that my family’s faith would be enlivened and energized. May those in my family who are not following you be touched by the Easter message and choose to be reborn themselves. May those family members who are following you have the excitement of the first apostles when they realized you were alive. Lord let my family members love you with all their heart, mind, soul and spirit because you are our Creator, and you are worthy. Amen.

Easter Prayer of Thanks.
Lord, I am overwhelmed when I think of you, the God of the universe, coming to earth. You call us your beloved children and were willing to leave a perfect heaven to come to a sinful and hostile world to save us. Thank you, Father. I am grateful for all the lessons you taught people 2,000 years ago that still guide our lives today. Thank you for your Word that is so available – even on my phone now.
Jesus, thank you for all you endured during your last week on earth. The details are hard for me to hear, even now, and it pains me to think of what you went through. But your love, Lord. Your love for me and all people! It engulfs me. I praise you for this plan that was from the beginning. Thank you for making a way to overcome the sin that separates me from you. When you rose from the grave, it fulfilled all the prophecies and showed the astonishing power of God. I don’t want to lose sight of the true meaning of Easter among the activities and gatherings today. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Amen.
Easter Dinner.
Before you dig into the glazed ham and scalloped potatoes remember to say the blessing.
Thank you Lord, for each person here at the dinner table and for the loving hands who have prepared this meal. May this food give us energy to serve you in your kingdom here on earth. Thank you for providing food for us today and every day. Let us be generous to the ones in our community who struggle with hunger and poverty.
Lord we are grateful and humbled by your sacrifice at Easter. May we never forget what it cost you to redeem us from sin. Today, we turn away from the darkness of the tomb. Instead, we celebrate that you are the light of the world. Please bless each of us with a closer walk with you. May we live to reflect your glory to those around us. Amen.

A Prayer for Grandparents and Parents as Faith Leaders.
Father, I know it is my privilege and responsibility to guide the next generation in how to live a life of faith. As a parent and a grandparent, I desire to lead my loved ones closer to You, but I know I can’t do it without you. Please give me meaningful moments to share my faith with the kids. Fill me with Your wisdom so that my words and actions reflect Your truth. I pray your spirit will call each member of my family into a closer walk with you.
Help me, and grandparents everywhere, to share the Easter story with joy and conviction. We want to plant seeds of faith in the hearts of our children and grandchildren. When we feel inadequate or uncertain, remind us that You equip those You call. Strengthen us to be encouragers, listeners, and examples of Your grace.
May our homes be filled with Your presence this Easter and always. I pray that a spirit of peace and unity will bind each family together. Let our faith shine brightly so that the next generations may come to know and love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Side note: Time is funny. One minute you’re the child at the Egg Hunt searching for chocolate and the next minute you’re the adult searching for your phone so you can take pictures. That reminds me of a great idea for a grown-ups only Egg Hunt. All the eggs are hidden at eye level but you have to take off your glasses before you get started. Ha ha ha. It might take forever.
Easter prayers for blessings on children/grandchildren.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the precious gift of my children and grandchildren. I love them so much! May they always know how deeply they are valued—not only by me but, most importantly, by You.
Lord, I pray that you will guide my grandkids to the path that you have ordained for them so that their lives will be meaningful and fulfilling. Let your strong arm of protection be on them all of their days. Pour out Your blessings upon them—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Strengthen them in times of challenge. May their lives shine brightly as a testament to Your goodness and grace.
Thank you, Lord, that because of Easter, you have provided salvation and eternity for each child. I pray each one would choose for themselves to open this gift. Draw us all ever closer to you this Easter season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Living as Easter People.
The Tomb – prayer to defeat the things in our life causing death
Lord Jesus, when I think about your death and the darkness of the tomb, it reminds me of some hard times in my own life. The Bible says tribulation will come and it sure has. That is one reason I love you, because you have been through the ultimate dark time, and you understand. Your friends abandoned you during your time of need. One of your closest friends betrayed you and then committed suicide. You faced an unjust legal system run by leaders who were out for themselves. You suffered the cruelty of the guards and the physical pain you were subjected to. Such dark times. Such despair. Here, 2,000 years later, many people are still living without hope because many are living without you.
Lord there are things in my life (you know what they are) that are causing separation between you and me. Thoughts I can’t stop, situations that are out of control, reliance on things that are not you. Actions and attitudes that need to be put to death. Lord, help me. Sometimes I feel like I am trapped in a tomb, and I know you don’t mean for life to be like this. Lord, I turn away from these things today because I know, through your power, I can move past them. I humbly ask You to help me overcome today and tomorrow and forever. Give me victory over the sin in my life and the dark places in my heart.
Thank you, Jesus, that you always stand ready to help people in need. Amen.
The stone rolled away – victory in the resurrection
Lord, on Easter Sunday, we celebrate the miracle of you being alive. I am so grateful because I would not want to live in a world where you are not present. Lord, your resurrection means all the prophecy about you came to pass and it gives me assurance that the Bible is the truth. Your rebirth means that when God looks at me, he does not see my sin, but your perfection. Thank you, Lord, for your sacrifice.
In response, Jesus, help me to live as an example of your kindness and mercy to all around me. Let me be quick to reach out to those I see who are living in dark places and be bold in sharing with them a better way. Let me be filled with your spirit and grow more like you every day. Amen.
Jesus in heaven – the power of the Spirit
Lord Jesus, I pray that I would be as faithful as those early Christians that waited in the Upper Room for you. Even though many disciples fell away during your trial and death on a cross, there was such a renewal after your resurrection! You changed them from sorrowful and unsure to people who were bold and full of the Holy Spirit and I want to be like that too.
I pray that my children and grandchildren will live with the power of God in their lives. Please let your spirit fall on my children and grandchildren like the tongues of fire mentioned in Acts 2.
Let us be bold in sharing the hope of Easter with all. I pray Lord that all my friends and family will share in the hope of eternity with you. Thank you, Lord, for your spirit that lives inside us once we choose to follow you. My greatest hope is that we will all hear “well done good and faithful servant” as we enter the gates of heaven. Amen.
As Easter comes and goes, let’s not just tuck our faith away along with the Easter decorations. The resurrection isn’t just a moment in history—it’s a daily invitation to walk in faith, hope, and the power of Christ’s victory. As grandparents and parents, our prayers matter to God. They plant seeds of faith, strengthen family bonds, and invite God’s presence into our homes. Whether we’re giving thanks, blessing our children and grandchildren, or seeking renewal in our own hearts, prayer keeps us connected to the One who gives us life. Let’s continue to live as Easter people, shining His light in all we do.
