No Compromise Prayers for My Granddaughter’s Amazing Life

Watercolor picture of a pink heart in the middle of the picture. Around the heart are gold and pink flowers, sprigs of berries in blue and orange plus branches of leaves in green and blue. This picture takes up the middle half of the space and is on a blue and white striped background. The picture should invoke a feeling of grandma's love for the post Prayers for my Granddaughter.

I just love my granddaughter SO much. She is a joy and I’m grateful that God placed her in our family. As a grandma, I want Heaven to hear her name all the time. That is why I am saying prayers for my granddaughter every day. God wants to hear our prayers, and He can do far more than we expect when we ask.

Why pray?

Prayer is like opening a door to Heaven.

God please bless her and watch over her.

Keep her in your sight day and night. Let her feel You near to her when she’s happy and recognize that all good gifts come from You. Hold her close when she is sad, stressed or upset. Remind her that You are walking with her through everything.
Be a wall of protection around her from anyone who means her harm: kidnappers, human traffickers, drug dealers even friends who have low character. I pray You will cause people like this to shy away from her because they can sense Your protection.
Let her be sure of Your love for her and teach her how to show that love to others. Amen.

Why pray?

God’s love is limitless.

Lord, let her know Jesus and follow Him from an early age.

Give her many, many chances to hear stories of Jesus. Let her believe and choose to follow Him early in her life. I pray that every day she will have a better understanding of Jesus and learn how to walk worthy of the name Christ. Thank You Jesus for providing a way of salvation. I pray that my granddaughter will spend eternity with You. Amen.

Our Father, Who is in Heaven, deliver her from temptation.

I pray that there will never be barriers between You and my granddaughter. None of us is perfect, so I also pray she will be quick to ask Your forgiveness for anything that displeases you like wrong actions or bad attitudes. Deliver her from influences that are not good and protect her from the powers of darkness. I ask that You bring to light anything evil in her life so she will see it for what it is and turn from it. Lord, let her be honest with You.

Teach her to walk in Your ways. Amen.

Dear Lord, please let school be a positive place for my granddaughter.

Thank You for the people who chose to be teachers and school staff. Please bless them for their selfless work. I pray they feel valued for what they do. Please give (granddaughter’s name)  favor with her teachers and other staff at her school. Let her be respectful and willing to do the work necessary to learn. Would you lead the staff at her school to identify any problems she may have (vision, hearing, cognitive, learning) and get her the help she needs?

Show her the gifts You have given her and allow her opportunity to develop them. I pray she would not take her education for granted but would work to the best of her ability.
I pray over her schedule in general. Let her have activities, but not so many that she is stressed. Let her have time for hobbies, friends and free time too.

Please don’t let her be bullied or left out because of who she is. Let her be attracted to good friends. Please don’t let her chase popularity but let her be content with who You have made her to be.

Show her how to be kind to the outcast and the lonely.  I pray You will pour out Your spirit on her so that her light will shine on everyone she comes in contact with. Amen.

Why pray?

Prayer builds up our relationship with Jesus.

Lord I offer you prayers for my granddaughter and her friends.

Let them be a good influence on her and let her be a good example for them. As she gets older, I know friends become important so I pray she will have a group of caring, dependable friends. Show her how to be a fun, loyal friend without losing herself in the process. Let them be people who appreciate her for her. Let them be involved in activities that build up and not tear down. I ask that they will all learn about You and be saved sooner rather than later. Amen.

Family relationships.

God put us in families for several reasons: so children are safe and loved; so they can learn from their mom and dad; to practice patience for and forgiveness of their siblings. Plan A is two parents nurturing their children as the kids grow up. Yet many of us are living Plan B or C. As I say prayers for my granddaughter and other children in my family, it’s even more necessary to pray for the kids living in blended families or single parent families.

Father God, I pray for my granddaughter and her family.

Lord, please bless my granddaughter’s family. Please let her parents have a strong, loving relationship where they work together and find joy in raising their children. If she is in a blended family, I pray You will bring peace and good will between all the adults involved. Please bring a community of support around their family.

Show the siblings (and half-siblings) how to get along. I ask that they will be a good support for each other.  I pray each member of the family will feel valued and respected and that they will be knit together in love.

Lord, please provide the material things she needs: stable housing, nourishing food and decent clothes.

Finally, I pray that You will break off any generational curses that afflict either side of her family. Let them end with her generation and be no more. Bring to light anything that is hidden. Show us the truth about what is going on. Let each family pass on the positive and not the negative. Thank You Lord, Amen.

Her identity as a girl/ young woman.

I don’t think it is ever too early to pray for our grandchildren to be secure in their identity as boys or girls. In fact, I hope they never question it! I say that because anything else is a hard road for that person, personally and in society. Kids will have enough challenges without wondering who they are at this basic level. Let’s pray for them.

Immanuel, God with Us,

You have placed my granddaughter, this precious girl, into our family and we are so thankful. Please let her accept and enjoy who You have made her to be. Don’t ever let her question that she is female. Keep her from whispers of the enemy that might tell her otherwise. Shield her from messages in the media, at school or from friends who might lead her away from who she truly is.

Lord, I know You know the obstacles she will face because she is female. Discrimination, people not taking her seriously, only being valued for her looks. I pray You will help her move past these challenges with grace. Please, let her have a fair chance in life!

Lord, I trust that You are the Good Shepherd and will keep my granddaughter safely in Your fold. Teach her what it means to be a woman of God. Amen.

Why pray?

God takes our requests seriously.

Future spouse and future generations of children

Jesus, if it be Your will, I pray that my granddaughter will get married someday. Bring them together, in Your perfect timing, in Your perfect way.  Lord, I pray for this young man today – that he will find You and love You and want to follow You all his days. Please, Lord, give him good role models for who he can become. I know he’s going to make mistakes and get in trouble, as we all do, but please stay near him and bring him back to the path You have for him.

Lord, let (granddaughter’s name) be patient in waiting for her husband. Help her not to rush into a relationship with just anyone. I pray you will prepare her to be an excellent wife and mother.

I pray for their marriage – that they love and respect each other and honor You by raising children who know You well. May Your blessing be on the future generations of my grandchildren and their grandchildren and so on. Thank You Lord that You care for us. Amen.

Looking for prayers about protection?

I have a blog post with 6 focus areas for prayers for our grandchildren’s protection.

Take me to Prayers for Protection.

Lord, grant my granddaughter health, both mental and physical.

Prayers for my granddaughter’s mental health.

Lord, Your ways are higher than our ways and Your creation is magnificent.  This is especially true when it comes to our bodies. There is so little we understand about our brains, so I just pray you wire my granddaughter’s brain the way it should be. Protect her from head injuries and let her brain learn and grow smart. Spare her from anxiety, depression, and especially self-destructive thoughts.

Please let her parents quickly spot any symptoms of mental illness. Let them be wise in seeking treatment. Lord, it is heartbreaking to think of my precious granddaughter having any serious problems so I ask that, in Your mercy, You will spare her. In any case, though, I know You will be with us. Let our family love and accept this girl for who she is and be an excellent source of support for her.  Amen.

Physical development/ Puberty.

Lord please let (granddaughter’s name) be healthy. Let her physical development be normal and on schedule. Let her vision and hearing be normal. Let her immune system be strong. Lord if there is any condition that runs through her family line, please spare her from it. Let her parents have the education and medical resources to prevent or minimize her condition. In your mercy, Lord, let her rise above whatever physical weakness she may have.

And Lord, please help (granddaughter’s name) navigate through puberty. Let her accept the changes in her body. Give her access to accurate information about her development and let her parents be approachable when she has questions. Please don’t let her be silent because of fear. Lord, puberty is a turbulent time, and I pray you will calm her emotions, and think clearly about boys. Keep showing her who she is to You. Amen.

Why pray?

Blessings from God don’t necessarily come automatically. Sometimes we can lay hold of God’s promises only through a believer’s prayer.

Lord, thank You for my granddaughter, who I love so much.

I am so grateful that You chose this child to be in our family. It is a joy to be her grandma. You know her smile lights up my life. With Your help, I want to be the best influence and example I can be for her. Thank you for her one-of-a-kind personality, the way she thinks, and what she does. I pray Lord she will chose to follow You early in her life and stay committed forever. Lord, I lift this child up to You for Your care and protection. Please guide her in everything she does. Help her to love good, hate evil and become more like You every day. Amen.

No matter where your granddaughter is in life—or where you are in yours –  prayers make a difference. They are seeds sown in love, and watched over by a faithful God. Keep standing in her corner, through every season. Whether she’s taking her first steps, finding her way, or facing life’s bigger challenges, your quiet prayers speak loudly in heaven. What a gift it is to be a praying grandparent. Don’t stop—you’re part of her story in the most powerful way.
