Bible Verses for kids that show them their value
Every child wants to feel seen, known, and loved. Isn’t that one of the fun parts of visiting their grandparents? All the attention? God, too, gazes on our grandchildren with love. He tells them about their value to Him in His Word. The Bible holds powerful words that speak directly to the hearts of children, reminding them that they matter to God. When kids understand that Scripture includes them, it helps build a strong foundation of faith, confidence, and security in God’s love. In this post, we’ll explore six key Bible concepts that show how children are seen, valued, and cherished by their Creator.
1. Children are important to Jesus.
A. Jesus wants to bless children.
You know who loves kids? Jesus. The disciples found this out the hard way when they tried to shoo away children who were coming to be blessed.
But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. Mark 10:14-15 ESV
B. Jesus stands up for children.
We find this story again in Matthew 19:13-15. Jesus had traveled to Judea. The Bible says “great multitudes” surrounded Him to hear his teaching. That’s when someone wanted to bring kids to Him, and the disciples tried to prevent it.
But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven”. And He laid His hands on them and departed from there. Matthew 19:13-14 NKJV
Even surrounded by a crowd, Jesus made sure the kids were included in a way that made them central to the story. Seen, known and loved.
C. We should see people the way kids do.
Kids don’t care if the other children drive to the park in a Lexus or a beat-up Toyota. They just want to play together. Jesus feels the same way and welcomes relationship with all.
He took a child, had him stand among them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, Whoever welcomes one little child such as this in my name welcomes me. And whoever welcomes me does not welcome me, but him who sent me.” Mark 9:36-37 CSB

2. Jesus saw children as important members of the kingdom.
There are 5 stories of Jesus healing children in the New Testament: a boy with a demon in Matthew 17:14; Jairus’s daughter in Mark 5:21-24; a widow’s son in Luke 7:11; a Canaanite woman’s daughter in Luke 7:24 and an official’s son in John 4:43.
As with all of Jesus’ miracles, He healed these kids to bring glory to God. It also showed the value He placed on children. As grandparents, our hearts are so full of love for our grandchildren that we think no one could love them more. No one except the Lord, that is.
3. Bible verses for kids: God knows you because He created you.
Kids love stories about when they were babies. It’s fun to tell my grandkids about the day they were born and the cute things they have said when they were little. And yet, we need to find creative ways to teach them that God has known them from the beginning and He knit them together in their mother’s womb.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them! Psalm 139:13-14 ESV
He took a child, had him stand among them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, Whoever welcomes one little child such as this in my name welcomes me. And whoever welcomes me does not welcome me, but him who sent me.” Mark 9:36-37 CSB
Teach your grandchildren that God is the one who made them and He is happy with them. Let them know that He has a plan for their life.
3. Bible verses for kids that show how God sees them.

Reassure your grandchildren that these Bible verses for kids mean God is looking at them with love and pleasure.
4. Bible verses that show God cares how you act.
While accountability and trying to be good may be hard for some, remind your grandkids that God has certain ways he wants his kids to act so that they grow up to be like him. He understands that we can’t be perfect, but He does want us to do the best we can.
Even a child is known by his deeds,
Whether what he does is pure and right. Proverbs 20:11 NKJV
A wise son makes a glad father,
but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother. Proverbs 10:1 ESV
Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
they are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck. Proverbs 1:8-9 NIV

4. God cares how people treat children.
Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father. Matthew 18:10 NLT
This passage shows that, while kids may not have status or power, they have angels to protect them and minister to them. You might also remind your grandkids that you pray for them every day.
But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Matthew 18:6 NKJV
Now there’s a caution. Guarantee your grandchildren that God sees and knows the things that happen to them.
Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4 CSB
Before you get in trouble with your son-in-law on this one, you should explain to your grandchildren that parents and children work together. Children honor their parents and parents should be respectful of their children.
Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. 1 Timothy 4:12 NLT
5. Children are a blessing from the Lord.
Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court. Psalm 127:3-5 NIV

Amen to this verse!
But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant, and they said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?”
And Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read,
“‘Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies
you have prepared praise’?” Matthew 21:15-18 ESV
The praise of children even blessed Jesus. Kids, with their good loving hearts, are our best example of how to live in the kingdom of God.

6. Children Are Part of God’s Big Story
God loves our grandkids. He knows what it’s like to be a child. After all, He came to earth as a baby and grew up in a family. God could have revealed Himself in a thousand ways. But the example He chose was to come as a child. Hopefully that makes our grandkids feel special. And just as Jesus grew up to have an important ministry, so our grandkids have a purpose that God has designed just for them. They are not junior members of the kingdom. They are members – with abilities and talents they can use for furthering God’s plan.
I believe that God has big plans for the generation being raised up right now. I know He wants us to be praying for these kids, daily. Think what God could do with a generation dedicated to Him. Raised in prayer and grounded in faith. This is the special work of grandparents right now. To bring about God’s plan for their grandchildren. Let’s teach our grandkids that they are seen, known and loved by God and they can trust Him for their future.
